Anniversary of ChoralExpress

Last year at this time I was planning to attend a variety of choral concerts for the Christmas season - there are so many wonderful choral organizations here in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul), and during the holiday season we always have excellent choices for programs.  I got frustrated last year because I couldn't find a primary source for the concerts.  Yes, there are several calendar of events posted on various websites, but nothing devoted to just choral concerts.  So I rolled up my sleeves and built ChoralExpress!

So this year...I'm pleased to see the variety of concerts for November and December on the choral calendar.  This is great for me because the most of the choirs using ChoralExpress are right here in Minnesota.

But... the ChoralExpress website is available for the entire nation!  So if you're checking out this site and see the potential for your location, share ChoralExpress with your local choirs.  It makes finding choral concerts easy, either from your desktop computer, laptop, or handheld device. (Yes, ChoralExpress has gone mobile!)

As we approach the holiday season, perhaps you might be inspired to give the gift of ChoralExpress for your choir director!  The annual registration fee is only $20.00 to post choral concerts on the choral calendar for an entire year.  It's a great way to connect your concerts with local audiences, and there's still plenty of time to share your holiday concerts!  Click here to learn more about the registration process.

Finally, I want to share my gratitude to all the choirs using ChoralExpress.  It's been a pleasure sharing your concerts with the public and getting to know so many wonderful choral organizations!

A Special Musical Offering: Mozart's Requiem Mass

"Mozart's Requiem is a lofty expression of faith, which recognizes the tragic character of human existence and which does not hide its dramatic aspects, and for this reason it is an appropriate expression of Christian faith, conscious that the whole of a person's life is illuminated by the love of God."  Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI shares more about his love of Mozart and Mozart's Requiem in a message posted here.

On Tuesday, November 2 (All Souls Day) the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale and Orchestra will present the Mozart Requiem Mass (K 626) as a part of Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. This event is free and open to the public. Mass begins at 7:30 PM.  Plan now to attend this special musical offering and plan to arrive early.

The Twin Cities Catholic Chorale at St. Agnes Church in St. Paul, under the direction of Bob Peterson, announces their 37th season performing Major Latin Masses on Sundays at 10:00 AM. These Masses are performed in their original settings during the celebration of the Mass, with full professional orchestra, soloists and chorus.

Click here for all the details about the Requiem Mass presentation at St. Agnes Church in St. Paul, MN (including directions to the church).  At the bottom of the page is a listing of the upcoming Masses presented by the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale.

Mozart Escapes: Discovered hiding in local church!

You may be familiar with the many great Masses of Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and other 18th and 19th Century composers, but imagine hearing them in their intended setting - a beautiful Baroque church during a sung Latin Mass!

For over 36 years, The Church of Saint Agnus in Saint Paul, Minnesota, has been one of the few churches worldwide where you may experience entire choral Masses with orchestra within the context of the Mass.  Musical director Dr. Robert L. Peterson leads the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale's experienced choir and professional soloists and instrumentalists in singing these historic and beautiful Masses.*
